The skin is the largest organ of the body and one of its main functions is to provide protection from external factors such as bacteria, chemicals, and hash temperatures. The melanin in your skin protects the body from ultraviolet light emitted from the sun which can damage the skin cells. Another important function of the skin is to regulate the body’s temperature.

There are three layers of skin in your body: the “Epidermis,” the outer layer that you can see and touch is the thinnest layer, but it’s responsible for providing a protective barrier; the “Dermis,” or the middle layer, lies underneath the epidermis, and the Subcutis or “Hypodermis,” the innermost layer. Knowing the various layers in your skin enables you to use the right exfoliating product to achieve a cleaner, softer and smoother complexion. Under normal living conditions, your skin cells would die and be regenerated  every few days, so proper exfoliating is essential for maintaining the health and vitality of this protective organ.

Here are three methods for exfoliating your skin: Chemical, Mechanical and Natural.
Chemical Exfoliating Treatment

It is very important to read the ingredients listed on all facial scrubs, whether purchased from a department store, online or pharmaceutical company before applying them to your face or body. Many of the exfoliating products available on the market these days are made with chemical preservatives and additives blended into a lotion or cream base. They also contain abrasive agents made with either sea salt, brown or white sugar, crushed apricot or other nut kernels.

It is the various chemicals in those scrubs that soften the dead skin on your face or body allowing the abrasive agent, when massaged against the skin, to cause the dead skin cells to peel or flake off. Most of those scrubs are recommended to remain on your face or body for a few minutes, allowing the chemicals to begin working on the skin. As the pores are opened, many of those chemicals are also absorbed into the dermis of your skin.

Chemical peeling of the skin also acts on the premise that the mild acidic components in the peel help to dissolve the dead layer of skin. This process makes exfoliation easier when you gently rub the areas where the chemical peel was applied. When chemical peeling is done over an extended period of time, those chemical ingredients may show up in different areas of your body and may cause other skin or health problems to develop.

Mechanical Exfoliating Treatment
Costly salon or clinical “Microdermabrasion” treatment can set you back a couple hundred dollars or more for each treatment or session. Microdermabrasion is a skin-care technique where a wand-like apparatus is used to shoot streams of tiny grains of crystals, such as aluminum oxide, sodium chloride or sodium bicarbonate onto the surface of the skin to break down the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin. Then the apparatus collects and disposes of the dead skin along with the crystals leaving your skin feeling smooth, but sensitive.

In the first hour after treatment, your skin may appear swollen and red. Depending on the skin sensitivity of the individual, these side effects can last anywhere from an hour to a few days. Even though there may be some benefits to using this kind of treatment, in the long run, it may end up costing you a small fortune to maintain this method for looking beautiful.

Microdermabrasion creams or scrubs containing similar crystals found in the professional treatment can be used at home, without the assistance of expensive machines. By rubbing the cream or scrub onto your face, the crystals penetrate into the epidermis and destroy the dead skin cells, allowing them to wash off easily with the crystals. If done incorrectly, both the at home and the salon microdermabrasion treatments can bruise or discolor the skin.

Natural Exfoliating Treatment

Why invest approximately $175.00 or more of your hard-earned money on something you can easily achieve in the privacy of your home for a fraction of the price? Exfoliation is recommended at least two to three times a week to remove all the dead skin that may be clogging up the surface of your body. It is best to perform this task either at night before going to bed or when you awake first thing in the morning.
At night, start by removing all of your makeup and begin with a clean face. Do not use disposable sponges, loofars, nylon and sea sponges, creams or scrubs to remove makeup; these can be very abrasive on the skin.

As hot water strips the skin of its natural oils and moisture, it is recommended to use warm water when applying “Tekadis Jacquié Facial Scrub” to gently remove dead skin cells and other discolorations from your face and body. “Tekadis Jacquié Facial Scrub” is manufactured by using a unique combination of four different ingredients: Shea Butter, Virgin Olive Oil, and Coconut Oil. It is carefully blended with Ultra Fine Pumice, allowing it to spread easily and evenly all over your face or body.

These ingredients help to smooth and moisturize your skin without clogging your pores. This scrub does not contain any acids, chemicals, toxins, dyes, parabens or abrasive materials such as sea salt, brown sugar or crushed apricot kernel, which can damage your sensitive skin. The scrub cleanses gently and is an ideal facial and body treatment to heal and help with many skin conditions such as: acne, dry skin,  eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis,  blemishes, wrinkles, stretch marks, cracked skin, skin rash and premature aging.

1. Apply a small amount of “Tekadis Jacquié Facial Scrub” to your face or body.
2. Use your fingers to gently massage it into your skin; scrubbing from the front of your face in a short, upward circular motion.
3. Leave it on your face for about 3 to 5 minutes, allowing the scrubs natural ingredients to penetrate into the outer surface (the epidermis) of the skin.
4. Rinse skin using lukewarm water and apply “Tekadis African Liquid Black Soap”, applied on a “Tekadis “SWD” Scrub, Wash and Dry Facial Pad”, paying attention to dark spots or acne areas on and around the face and neck.
5. Gently pat skin dry with a towel. While the skin is still slightly damp, apply either: Tekadis African Shea Butter, Tekadis African Cocoa Butter or Tekadis African Body Moisturizer; all are beneficial for any skin type — normal, dry or oily.
